Best Paper Awards
All papers submitted for an award should meet the criteria of superior scientific methodological quality and superior writing style. There are three awards.
The Chris Voss Best Paper Award
The Chris Voss Best Paper Award, established in 2002, is granted to the best paper presented at the conference. Since 2004, the award is supported by Emerald, publisher of the International Journal of Operations & Production Management.
Papers will be judged on their contribution towards the advancement of theory and practice of Operations Management. The winner of the best conference paper will receive a money prize and a framed certificate; up to two runners-up will receive framed certificates. All prizes will be announced and handed over during the closing session of the conference, during the Awards Presentation.
The Harry Boer Best Student Paper Award
The Harry Boer Best Student Paper Award, established in 2009, is granted to the best paper presented at the conference authored by a PhD student. The award is supported by Emerald, publisher of the International Journal of Operations & Production Management.
Papers will be judged on their contribution towards the advancement of theory and practice of Operations Management. The winner of the best student paper will receive a money prize and a framed certificate; up to two runners-up will receive framed certificates. All prizes will be announced and handed over during the closing session of the conference, during the Awards Presentation. In addition, all finalists will be awarded a complimentary conference registration voucher for the following year.
Conditions for eligibility to the Harry Boer Best Student Paper Award:
- Entrants must have been PhD-candidates on or after 1 July 2011. Only one entry can be submitted by an entrant.
- The submitted paper must present original research conducted primarily by the entrant. Some assistance by other individuals such as the student’s faculty advisor is permitted as long as the student is the real "first author". This must be reflected in the advisor’s letter. - The research must have been conducted while the entrant was a student.
- The topic of the paper should fall within the scope of Operations Management. A list of topics can be found on the EurOMA 2011 conference website http://www.pom2012.org/ under the menu item Call for Papers.
The student should be willing to present the paper submitted in a dedicated session, if invited (which may happen if the paper is one of the three best). The student should also be willing and plan to attend the awards ceremony (usually held during the closing session of the conference).
The Jose A.D. Machuca P&OM World Conference Best Paper Award
The Jose A.D. Machuca P&OM World Conference Best Paper Award was established in 2011 by POMS, EurOMA and JOMSA. This Award is granted for the best paper characterized by global research in Operations Management as well as superior scientific and writing quality submitted and presented at the World Conference. The following criteria apply for the papers applying for this Award: · Global/multi-national features attracting interests by the global OM community (Academia and/or Practice), relating to aspects such as:
- International focus
- Key OM topics in global settings
- International comparisons
- Attention to cultural differences
- Application of universal concepts to global settings
- Co-authors from different regions
The winner of the Jose A.D. Machuca P&OM World Conference Best Paper Award will receive a monetary award and a framed certificate; up to two runners-up will receive framed certificates. All prizes will be announced and presented during the closing session of the conference.
